PRP therapies are the focus of one of the most cited articles of 2024
MiKS Community highlights the recognition given to the scientific article “Current Challenges in the Development of Platelet-Rich Plasma-Based Therapies”, which has been ranked among the 10 most-cited papers published in 2024 in the journal BioMed Research International, according to data from Clarivate Analytics.
This review article focuses on one of the most relevant areas of modern biomedicine: therapies based on platelet-rich plasma (PRP). These therapies have experienced significant growth in recent years due to their autologous nature and their accessibility in clinical settings.
The article analyzes the current challenges in the development of PRP-based therapies, noting that, while significant progress has been made in collection and optimization methods, further research is still needed into modifying the molecular components of PRP to develop more effective formulations.
In this regard, the article reviews various innovative approaches aimed at modifying the molecular composition of plasma, opening new avenues for improving the efficacy of these treatments and advancing toward more precise and personalized therapies.
