New Research on PRP and Neuroinflammation
A new study published in International Journal of Molecular Sciences explores how the composition of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may influence its ability to modulate neuroinflammation, a process closely associated with neuropathic pain.
Using an in vitro model based on human sensory neurons and microglia, the study compares two PRP formulations and evaluates their impact on inflammation, microglial activation, and neuronal response.
The results show that both formulations have anti-inflammatory effects, although through different and complementary mechanisms. While one formulation showed a stronger ability to reduce pro-inflammatory mediators, the other promoted processes associated with inflammation resolution and neuronal protection.
These findings highlight the importance of PRP molecular composition as a key factor in shaping its biological activity and open new avenues for research in regenerative medicine and the management of neuropathic pain.
